Sid the Science Kid

Sid the Science Kid is an upcoming preschool television series being produced by The Jim Henson Company. The show will feature real-time computer-generated puppets, using the Henson Digital Performance System. 40 half-hour episodes of Sid the Science Kid have been ordered, with production beginning in the fall of 2007. the series is scheduled to debut on PBS Kids on September 1, 2008[1], with a two-year on-air commitment. [2]

The main character is Sid, an "inquisitive youngster" who uses comedy to tackle questions kids have about basic scientific principals and why things work the way they do. Drew Massey provides the voice and digital puppetry for Sid.

The Jim Henson Company has contracted with Brandolution to handle the licensing. According to Brandolution's website, "Brandolution will work with the Company to develop a licensing program across all relevant preschool consumer product categories including toys, books, activities, party, apparel, and home furnishings, with the goal of introducing a tight assortment of key drivers for the 2008 holiday season followed by full product assortment rolling out in 2009." [2] Industry veteran Sam Ewing was chosen to handle international sales of the series.[3]
